2020 has been different from previous years in many ways. However, one thing hasn’t changed – Laurysen is contributing to the Minto CHEO Dream of a Lifetime Lottery. Participants for our fourth year in this worthy cause, (since we first worked on the 2017 dream kitchen,) we are once again providing custom millwork, cabinetry, and walk-in closets for the 2020 Minto Dream Home.
The Dream Home is the amazing grand prize in the CHEO lottery, a multi-million-dollar fundraising event, organized annually through the efforts of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Foundation. The Foundation raises money to support the CHEO and other worthy medical research institutes.
“This is our fourth year with the CHEO Dream Home,” explains Project Manager Corey Laurysen. “Every year, we’re grateful to be apart of such an amazing project. We truly care about supporting this local cause.”
For the Laurysen team, it’s more than just another charity. “We’re a very family-oriented company,” says Corey. “Many of us have visited CHEO; it’s a place everyone recognizes and appreciates deeply.”
Previous Dream Homes have featured exciting design innovation, as well as strikingly beautiful aesthetics. The 2019 Dream Home, for example, was a Net Zero Energy Home, while the 2018 Home won multiple Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association Awards of Distinction.
About The 2020 Cheo Dream Home
Presenting the CHEO Dream of a Lifetime Lottery grand prize for 2020 … the Bohemian, a 4,700 square foot, 4-bedroom, 4.5-bath single family Dream Home in Mahogany Village, Manotick, Ontario.
The “Bohemian” Dream Home blends organic and sophisticated elements to create the ultimate in eclectic boho chic. The Home’s exterior highlights handsome stone facing and an inviting wraparound porch. The interior of the Bohemian is equally striking, with textural tiles, wood-clad beams, and delightfully quirky wall treatments. Outstanding features include a fully equipped basement gym, a cathedral-ceilinged third-floor loft, and a charming 3-season room with a built-in fireplace.
As Tanya Collins, co-designer of the Bohemian, remarks: “Everybody loves to see a kitchen. The kitchen and living area will be the place where people spend most of their time. People will enjoy walking in and seeing the wood beams. All of the colours in that room of the home are very textural. A lot of effort has been put into these parts since people spend the most time in them.”
Laurysen’s Contribution To The CHEO Dream Home 2020
At Laurysen Kitchens, we believe in giving back to the community, which has been a vital and integral part of our success over the past 50 years, we have been in business. That’s why the Laurysen team, donated their time, talent and spared no effort to contribute to this masterpiece project and a good cause.
Laurysen Team, led by CKD Designer Wael Bakr, added life to this project, working on the minute details and the design of the different rooms in this beautiful home – Kitchen, Ensuite & Bathrooms, Master Bed Walk-in-Closet, Dining Room Buffet, Mudroom, Basement Bar and the Laundry.
“The kitchen, is the hub of the house and the center of attraction, therefore it was given special care in designing” explains Laurysen Lead Designer Wael Bakr. “This kitchen is a magnificent open concept that features simplistic style cabinets. The goal was to design a classy looking kitchen with a modern timeless look, yet to be a very functional and workable working space”.
This kitchen contains premium quality features and accessories, to make it much more functional and accessible, such as a Pullout for spices and oils, spatulas, trays and kitchen linens. “Every inch of this kitchen was carefully planned and stylishly designed, to make it the chef’s paradise,” says Wael.
Laurysen Kitchens also contributed to designing and producing all bathrooms’ vanities. “The outcome is a beautiful chic bathroom with a classy look that makes this space a calm retreat,” says Wael.
The Laurysen Team has also contributed to designing and producing the beautiful anthracite colour Mudroom and Basement Mini-Bar, the two-tone Laundry and the Light and Cheerful Dining Buffet. “Hard work, dedication and attention to detail by the Laurysen Team, all have contributed to this project’s success and made it a truly Dream Home”, Wael concludes.
