After two years without an in-person event, the energy and excitement were high at this year’s Design Excellence Awards. Organized by the Ottawa chapter of the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA), everyone came together to celebrate and honour the 2022 winners.
Laurysen’s designers heard their names called five times throughout the evening, more than any other company in the room.
“We’re all so incredibly proud of our design team,” said Sales and Marketing Manager, Harley Wallin. “Their remarkable talent shines through, time and time again.”During a time of continued industry and supply chain challenges, he added, “Laurysen designers continue to innovate and impress, creating the most beautiful spaces for our clients.”
1st Place: Best Powder Room
Caroline Castrucci’s modern bathroom design is both elegant and minimalistic. The unique geometric vanity stuns as a focal point in the powder room, its sculptural straight lines perfectly pairing with rounded features. The marble veining in the walls and flooring add to the refined and chic look.
1st Place: Best Transformation (Before & After) – Kitchen
Wael Bakr, one of Laurysen’s most decorated designers, won for this amazing kitchen transformation. Chosen for the dramatic before and after results, Wael elevated this room to become a fully functional space with undeniable style. The kitchen counters, backsplash and appliances are all standouts in this gorgeous design.
1st Place: Bonus Room
Ola Elmaghraby took home the 1st place award for this home office that serves as an escape from the chaos of a busy household—just close the doors, and every distraction disappears. Utilizing an abundance of natural light and soothing colours, she’s created a supremely relaxed atmosphere. And, with carefully configured cabinetry and shelving, the space remains effortlessly clutter-free.
1st Place: Kitchen, All Styles – Price Group 3
Beautiful craftsmanship is on full display in Wael’s second award-winning design. This classic kitchen features an abundance of gorgeous white cabinetry and countertops impeccably paired with a large central island in a subtle, coordinating grey colour. Pendant lights illuminate this versatile gathering space, making it the ideal place to dine, work or socialize.
2nd Place: Kitchen, Contemporary/Modern – Price Group 1
Caroline used calming neutrals to create her second award-winning entry of the night. This contemporary kitchen design embraces warm beige, tan and white hues to evoke a serene and sophisticated vibe. Elongated tiles and drawer pulls complement the long open wooden shelf that sits below an equally long window. Creative, space-saving storage solutions were tucked away into the island to maintain the open, zen feel of the space.
If you are dreaming of a space that is as beautiful as it is useful, don’t hesitate to reach out to a Laurysen designer today—your kitchen, bath, mudroom, closet or study could be our next award-winning design!
