On Saturday February 13th, my friends and I will be holding a fundraising event for theOttawa General Hospital Breast Health Centre. The centre in need of a biopsy chair to detect the presence of cancer cells safely and comfortably.
This chair will cost about $10,000 and we’ll be doing our best to raise the full amount.
To help make sure that happens I (Giuseppe, on the left in the photo below) and some special friends will be shaving our heads right at the dance!
We promise an evening of fun, fantastic food and dancing at our St. Valentino Dinner Dance.

About the Sons of Carpineto Romano
We are a group of friends who all trace their heritage back to the town of Carpineto Romano in Italy in the 1950s. We either immigrated to Canada from there ourselves or have family who did. We’ve all come a long way, and want to give back to the community in as many ways as possible.
We’ve dedicated ourselves to getting together and organizing fun community events that help great causes. To date, we’ve raised over $11,000 for several great causes in the Ottawa area.
Why Breast Cancer?
We all have great mothers, aunts, sisters, wives and daughters. We know how much they have supported and encouraged us over the years. We want to give them and all the other women in our community the best defence against this terrible disease.
Breast cancer is a very complex disease with no single cause. According to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, about 25,000 women are diagnosed with the disease every year. The survival rate is about 80% these days, but early detection is still essential to survival.
That’s where the biopsy chair comes in. It allows for mammograms and tissue biopsies essential to the detection of the disease.
Please help us reach our goal – we’re already part way there and with your help we can make it. And I will definitely be needing a hat this winter after my hair is gone, so I hope to be able to think about helping so many people to help keep me warm!
