NU Green® Zero NAUF Product Line:
This new product line offered at Laurysen Kitchens is a proactive movement to become more environmentally conscious.
We still offer the same high quality products that customers expect when purchasing a Laurysen Kitchen, but with an added benefit. The NU Green® Zero NAUF, offered by Uniboard®, is the most environmentally friendly solution on the market; it is both, FSC and EPP certified.
This particleboard is constructed from 100% recycled and recovered wood fiber thus saving trees and avoiding landfills. This product is manufactured using a process whereby no added urea formaldehyde is used. NU Green® Zero NAUF can help you achieve up to six LEED points.
Eco-Friendly Water Based Finishes:
Laurysen Kitchens is gradually moving more of its finishes to a water-based system.
These stains, lacquers, and topcoats have the same luxurious finish as solvent-based products. The benefit of water-based finishing system is it allows us to reduce our VOC emissions. The topcoats are cured using UV light and have an added antimicrobial protection to combat mold and other harmful bacteria.
The 55,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility at Laurysen Kitchens uses cutting edge technology to continuously improve our processes and products.
The equipment within the facility helps us to drastically reduce the amount of waste we produce and also cut back on our energy consumption. For instance, the new automated spray line dramatically reduces the amount of over-spray and our new nesting machine optimizes every inch of a sheet of particleboard. Our offices and plant have an aggressive recycling program which reduces our landfill footprint.
In June 2017 we are opening a second plant in Carleton Place, Ontario. Our new plant will also be adhering to our green policy, and will include a dust collection system that makes it possible for us to recycle wood dust particles.
These are just a few examples of the state-of-the-art machinery and green programs in place that allows Laurysen Kitchens to move forward to a greener future.
