Job description:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support the preparation of financial statements that adhere to regulatory and accounting guidelines. Working under the guidance of our Controller, you will play a crucial role in identifying and rectifying discrepancies while assisting in the establishment of effective control systems.
To excel in this role, you must possess a strong understanding of accounting principles. As an organized professional with keen attention to detail, you should be dependable and capable of working independently and collaboratively.
Your primary objective will be to ensure that the company’s accounting and financial processes meet established standards, promoting accurate financial reporting and effective control. Reporting to our Controller, you will be an integral part of the finance team.

Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, while ensuring compliance with GAAP/IFRS
- Reconcile monthly balance sheet, income statement, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions on a timely basis
- Streamline accounting procedures and automate journal entries for our month end process
- Submit monthly government remittances, in a timely manner
- Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
- Oversee our invoice and work order creation process, in conjunction with our AR Clerk
- Oversee our accounts payable process, in conjunction with our AP Clerk
- Train junior accounting staff, when needed, by reviewing their work for accuracy
- Help in the development of ad hoc reports for management
- Utilize accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records
Requirements and skills
- Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or other similar position
- Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.)
- Understanding of data analysis
- Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP)
- Working knowledge of Sage 300 is a definite asset to possess
- Well-organized with ability to prioritize.
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- BSc/BA in accounting, finance, or a relevant field is preferred.
